I'm going to list for you all the songs I can perform (play and sing at the same time) on guitar at this moment in time. I pick songs to do based (one) on whether I really, really like the song, (two) on whether the song lends itself well to being played on a single instrument, and (three) whether it's relatively easy for me to play (and sing at the same time). I try to make exceptions to (three) when I can, but... ya know. Generally I do my best to learn the songs by ear myself, without consulting other people's tabs, but when I get stuck I may give in. Goat Girl, No Surprises, and Snowflakes are probably the ones I'm most pleased with having figured out totally on my own. Thus far it's pretty rare that I actually perform for people, but I'm trying to change that. Anyway, here they are, in vaguely the order I learned them.

1. "By the Rivers of Babylon" as played by (apb) Sublime (fun song, fairly easy, good for performing in front of a Christian (or Jewish, I guess) audience- I'm thinking I first mastered singing and playing this at the same time about five years ago)
2. "Son of a Gun" apb Nirvana (easy. fun.)
3. "About a Girl" by Nirvana (when I was in high school and just learning guitar, this was THE SONG to know; it was several years before I could sing and play it at the same time, though)
4. "Oh, Me" apb Nirvana (I love this song so much. I wish I had written it. "This music speaks to me in places I didn't know I had ears." It's actually one of the harder ones I do. The ending still gives me problems sometimes.)
5. "Blank" by Smashing Pumpkins (Another song I wish I had written.)
6. "Goat Girl" by Tanya Donnelly (When I do it, it becomes Goat Boy. Also relatively demanding on the fingers, this is one of the few fingerstyle tunes I do and the only one that requires a capo.)
7. "No Surprises" by Radiohead (great, great song)
8. "Snowflakes" by Pizzicato Five (Another that's a bit demanding on the fingers. The lyrics consist of one word, though, which makes it relatively easy to perform.)
9. "One Man Guy" apb Rufus Wainwright (my anthem, dude)
10. "I'm Finding it Harder to be a Gentleman" by The White Stripes (this one goes out to all my ex-girlfriends...)
11. "Hotel Yorba" by the White Stripes (this is about the funnest song ever written)
12. "We're Going to be Friends" by the White Stripes (somehow this song really captures what it's like to be six years old. i really like it.)
13. "Fell in Love With a Girl" by the White Stripes (White Stripes songs fit all three criteria really well. This is song is just great. Lots of fun to play and sing.)
14. "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel (I love this song, and so should you!)
15. "I Like Birds" by Eels (Pretty much my philosophy of life, I think. Great song.)
16. "Tonight Reprise" by Smashing Pumpkins (Can't hurt to have a dash of bright-eyed romanticism here and there. I love this stupid song.)
17. "Grace Cathedral Hill" by the Decemberists (I didn't like this song when I first heard it, but it grew on me big time. It's one of my favorite Decemberists songs. I worry that when I play it on guitar it'd be especially hard to appreciate for those who don't already know it, but oh well.)
18. "Cage and Aquarium" by They Might Be Giants (I find this song almost unbearably clever. I was learning "Older" at one point, too, but that one really requires two guitars.)
19. "Michelle" by the Beatles (My karaoke standard, now with live music!)
20. "Girl, You Have No Faith In Medicine" by The White Stripes (This one goes out to Little Wing.) [added May 12th, 2005]
21. "I Can't Wait" by The White Stripes (This one's for Kami.) [added May 12th, 2005]
22. "Eli the Barrow Boy" by The Decemberists (Lovely little ditty. There really aren't enough songs about ghosts in this world. I'm glad the Decemberists are there to help fill the void. There are now TWO songs in my repertoire that require a capo, thus totally validating the fact that I own one.) [added May 12th, 2005]
23. "Galapagos" by Smashing Pumpkins (Very touching song that I'd been meaning to learn for a long time. Perhaps replaces "Oh, Me" as the most difficult song I do. It certainly has the most complicated chord progressions.) [added July 1st, 2005]
24. "The Stories Of The Street" by Leonard Cohen (Perhaps my favorite Leonard Cohen song. I suspect my rendition might be a little boring if you're not familiar with the original song.) [added July 1st, 2005]
25. "Hypnotize" apb The White Stripes (White Stripes songs are easy (generally speaking) and fun to play. This is a real fun song.) [added July 1st, 2005]

Original Songs (yet to be performed for another human being)
"Then Again"
"Ashes in the Fall"
"Finding My Oasis" [added May 12th, 2005]
"Cycles" [added May 31st, 2006]
"Animals" [added May 31st, 2006]

Hello!

I have friended you so you can read my LJ (it is currently friends only because now I hate the idea of someone reading about my life without me not knowing...which defeats of having an online journal, but.). I've abandoned it for a long time and probably will not write anything in it for ages to come. But you can read it when you're bored....

I also had a puckmalfoy LJ a few years back when I lost myself in the HP fandom so you can read that as well but maybe not because it's really lame. Haha.

I can play 'in the aeroplane over the sea too'! Or at least, I could. Kinda.
