girls of my dreams

Periodically an unknown girl will enter my dreams. It's never the same girl twice, but it's always a seemingly real person with a specific appearance and a unique personality, complete with quirks and mannerisms. Somehow it strikes me as odd that such highly developed characters are lurking in my subconscious. Is it normal to frequently encounter such utterly real imaginary people in your dreams?
