black friday
Nov. 28th, 2008 02:50 pmI don't think I'd ever heard this day described as Black Friday until this year, but this year I see the phrase everywhere. I am also annoyed at how brazenly the stores now are about immediately entering Christmas season the day after Halloween, but since we are now legitimately in the Christmas season I suppose I should stop complaining.
Over the years I have noticed that often the only people who understand how difficult it is to lose faith in one's religion are other people who have gone through it. People who never had faith in the first place don't understand why you would be unhappy to come to your senses and realize the so-called truth. And for people who have faith, losing faith is almost by definition "the quick and easy path."
Hey, you remember when I was making playlists based on each member of The Endless in Neil Gaiman's Sandman books? Turns out I gave up in the midst of Despair.
