initially i didn't understand what was happening as the air whipped my face and the screaming began but it soon became clear that a gaping hole had opened up in the vessel and people were being sucked out into the maelstrom that so defined this particular speck of dust in the space-time continuum so i watched impassively as the matter that made us dribbled slowly apart and rejoined the void from whence it had come in spite of the fact that the other passengers seemed none too pleased with this development and fought despairingly against the dimming of the light as they unbuckled their seatbelts and clutched and clawed to get away from the ever-expanding chasm that was inexorably consuming the vessel from the other side even though they should have known full well that such striving was in vain and would only further enrage the harsh gods who had sent this mess upon us and who would be at the triage desk after death in order to direct us on to the eternal emergency room bay that would be our everlasting reward so i thought it best to maintain an air of polite and detached interest as the meat that made up me was stripped from my bones and fried on the gods own broiler pan
