japanese bush
Oct. 24th, 2004 12:01 pmMy aunt asked me in an email what the Japanese think about the upcoming election. This was my response:
The Japanese, like pretty much the whole world minus about half of the US population, really dislike Bush. It's obvious to everyone outside the US that the Bush administration will pursue what it perceives to be in America's interest with total disregard for the interests and welfare of any other nation (like, moreso than past administrations). Their idea of diplomacy is to say "do what we tell you or get lost." Their attitude that "the American way of life is not negotiable" is of course very appealing to many Americans, but also of course it is terribly arrogant, and you can't expect the rest of the world to look very favorably on a nation that takes that attitude, especially when that nation is America, which has four percent of the world's population and uses twenty five percent of its (non-renewable and rapidly dwindling) resources.
