Well. I was out of town earlier in the week for a conference in Nagasaki, and just now I talked to Matchan for the first time since the dinner meeting. I got a pretty frigid reception. yeagh. I think I need to smoothe this over somehow. Maybe I actually will write her a letter this time. (A nice one.)

She was never really horrible, personally speaking. Just unavailable. I dunno. Some of it's culture, I think, and some of it is just... I don't know. We just don't seem to communicate well, and I'm not sure what to do about it. From my perspective it's her who's making it so difficult, but I get the feeling she either doesn't see the problem or perhaps thinks that the problem lies with me.

In Fukuoka Friday night we went out for karaoke. It had been my intention to sing "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" in your honor, but the place we went to didn't have it. So too bad.

And as for the globalization thing... I'm still mulling. Maybe I'll type something up tomorrow.

Weeeeelll, that makes sense. The cultural thing. My psychology professor is a specialist in cultural psychology and she brings that up all the time. So, yeah, it probably is just a communication issue. But one can hardly go bulldozing in in a situation like that...

That would've been awesome and I would've giggled about it for weeks. As it is, the intention is enough to make me smirk a little.
