So, they asked me to write a little blurb to go next to my name in the little yearbook thingy for the kids who are graduating from middle school next week. I asked what language and they seemed to want both Japanese AND English. So, I pulled up my collection of old Japanese Buddhist proverbs (which are all in archaic, fancy sounding language), and this is what I came up with.

会うは分けるの始め (Meeting is the beginning of separation)
猿猴が月をとらんとするがごとし (It is like a monkey grabbing at the reflection of the moon)
命は風前の灯 (Life is a lamp flame in the wind)
Don't eat yellow snow!
