north korea, redux

I found out this morning that another opportunity for Americans to get into North Korea has arisen. Three night stays, starting October 1st, 8th, and 15th. This seems to be much more of sure thing than last year. And we'll get to see Arirang, the Mass Games! Kick. Ass. That would be so fucking cool.

Making the arrangements for this is a huge pain, especially on such short notice, but as I did it all last year it's going pretty smoothly this time around. I've already sent in my Chinese visa application, my initial DPRK visa application, and booked a flight to Beijing.

It's going to happen this time. I can feel it.

Sometimes I think I should write a little text file filled with the email addresses of people who I'd want to be notified if I died, people who my parents might not know (how) to contact. Like the people who know me through places like this, for instance. I'd put it on the desktop of my laptop and entitle it "In The Event Of My Untimely Death," or something. It's hard to bring yourself to do something like that, though. But really, you never know when you might die. It's not a question of if...
