The bulk of my monster amazon.co.jp order arrived while I was away, and I am now basking in the glory. 14 CDs and two books on clarinet playing. (One CD, Franz Ferdinand, came within two days of placing the order, and one CD, Joy Division Unknown Pleasures, is on its way.)

I'm listening to Yann Tiersen Tout Est Calme right now. Married Monk... I've heard someone raving about them, haven't I?

Let me know what you think of the Joy Division -- "Unknown Pleasures" is an amazing album.

Actually I'd been meaning to ask you about one of the albums I picked up. I listened to it in a record store once and decided to order it on a whim. I really like it so far, but sometimes I get the feeling I should feel guilty about that pleasure. The band is called Feeder, and the album is called Pushing the Senses. From what I know about them, they seem like a band you would know something about.

Yeah, I know a bit about Feeder. They're a British band, sort of an indie pop-metal sort of sound. They actually remind me of something that would've come out of the US alt-rock scene in the early '90s. They've been around since the mid '90s, one of their founding members committed suicide in 2002 but they continued on as a duo after the guy's family urged them to. "Pushing the Senses" is their latest album, I think. I haven't heard it, although I do have their previous one "Comfort In Sound", which isn't bad at all. They have some good singles, too -- track down 'Buck Rogers' if you can.

I'm pretty fond of the US alt-rock scene of the early 90s; I guess those bands are really what first captivated me and made me realize what pop music was really capable of. So maybe that's why I kinda like Feeder.

I've listened to the Joy Division once through now, and... I'll have to listen to it a lot more before I'm sure what I think of it. That first track especially does sound a hell of a lot like Interpol (or vice versa, I guess). When I went to Coachella last year, Joy Division shirts seemed to be THE THING to prove your hipster cool credentials, so I guess I decided to see what the fuss was all about.
