春・花見

Pictures of blooming plum and cherry trees in Japan.



These first three are of a plum tree at the Tenryuji in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Taken in March.







Next, cherry blossoms in Karatsu. Taken in April.





And then cherry blossoms at a temple in Fukuoka. Also taken in April, this was about the closest I got to an actual hanami experience.

I can see the pics in the post now, I don't know what was wrong this morning. In any case, amazing blossoms!

Although I can't get a good sense for the proportion of each pic due to my tiny iBook screen, I especially like 1, 4, & 7. It's so sad to see the blossoms fall so quickly. Thanks to a windy day in Tokyo the hanami season was cut short this year. Sigh.

Ah, but it wouldn't be 花見 if the blossoms stayed around for a month. Gotta love those little reminders of mortality.
