He turned 72. It said so in the "today's birthdays" section in the Oakland Tribune, of all places.

How 'bout that. Yeah, it's a national holiday in Japan, and one of two days out of the year when the public is permitted to enter the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. The other day is January 2nd, and I'm planning to go then. Should be fun.
