security questions

I hate it when places force you to have a security question that they'll ask you if you forget your password. If you enter the correct response, you're just making it that much easier for someone who has some personal info on you to crack your account. And if you enter an incorrect response, then you have to remember exactly what incorrect response you entered, which makes it like having another password. Most the time I just enter gibberish and leave it be, but at Vanguard.com, for instance, to open new accounts I have to answer my security question. Doh!

I just found out I won't be able to see Ben Folds in Osaka, even though I will be there at the same time. I waited too long, and the Sunday night show is sold out. They actually added another show the next night, but I (a) have a "mandatory" dinner party thing that night with all the other course participants, and (b) I'm not allowed to stay anywhere but at the site of the course for the duration of the course, and going to see Ben Folds would necessitate staying overnight elsewhere. Dammit!

It's just, I meet a Japanese person who's heard of Ben Folds about as often as I meet an American who's heard of Love Psychedelico. I wasn't expecting it to sell out so fast! Lesson learned, I guess.

There's a show in Hiroshima on Friday the 23rd that hasn't sold out yet. It starts at six, though. I get off work at noon. Is it possible for me to get from the Rock to Hiroshima in six hours? Actually, it's looking like the earliest I could possibly get to Hiroshima would be around 6:30. Add to that another half hour or so to find and get to the place... Ack. I think I'm out of luck.
