Ha. I have the Japanese version of the new Final Fantasy movie, and this review makes me feel a lot better for not having any clue what was going on. After the second time I watched it, it was like, "Well, I understand most of what was said but... I have no idea what this film is about."

The graphics are truly well done. I think you need to remember when watching it that it is a straight to video (disc) release (though that doesn't have the same stigma in Japan that it does in the US). Though yes, if you never played the original game (Final Fantasy VII), you probably won't like it unless you like cool CG fight scences that aren't even close to obeying the rules of physics.

Sometimes going to the preschool cheers me up. Usually it does. But other times it pisses me off even more. There’s a kind of social darwinism that goes on there. When you’re surrounded by six little kids, each of whom is fighting for your attention, the one who sticks his/her finger up your anus or grabs your genitals is the kid who gets your attention. The term “child molester” has taken on a whole new meaning for me. I’ve been violated, I tell you, violated! By five year old girls!

So, I went to a very unique travel destination the weekend before last. Since it's technically illegal to go there I'm not sure if I want to tell you what it's called or where it's located. Hint: it is in Japan and when it was inhabited it hit what is supposedly the highest human population density ever recorded. This time I'll just give you some tantalizing pictures of what it looks like from the outside...

Did you hear about Stephen Colbert's routine at the White House Correspondents' Dinner? It was awesome. I knew the guy was tough, but to deliver that kind of stuff with President Bush sitting five feet away from you, turned to look you in the face as you're speaking... That's balls of steel, man. My respect for Colbert just went way up. If you haven't already, check it out.
